KNEES!! 07/11/2010
9 Comments

Hey everyone. A lot of great things have happened for me. I am excited to tell everyone that I received my C-legs. They are the legs with the computerized knees. Friday July 9th was my one year mark. Some of my family came down and saw me walk on my knees. I also got my feet a couple of weeks ago. I went up to Arlington two weeks ago for my sisters first birthday. While I was up there my parents bought me my first pair of shoes in over a year.

Also about the bumper stickers the company that makes them has let us know that they are not going to fix the ones they messed up. So the store we ordered them through is going to try and make it right. So it will be a little longer we have to order them again through someone else.

Thanks,

Colton

Colton and Jessica - you two are awesome. Colton - to see you walk on the "C" legs just 1 year to the day of the "accident" was a show a strength, courage, and wonder. You are what every young man should aspire to be. Your determination has shown that you can accomplish anything! We are very, very proud of you. Jessica - you are in our hearts for ever for the love and support you have given to Colton. We know it hasn't been easy for you two. This is the first of many good things to come for you both - God bless you both. We love you. Nanny and Papa.

Brother Colton & Sister Jessica,

I first read Colton's story in the Sacramento Bee just after starting my 12 month Surgical Technician classroom training last July. We're the folks that set up the sterile surgical field and pass the instruments, etc. to the surgeon during surgery.

I have followed your website for the last year and you are both AWESOME! ! ! I can tell that God is a big part of your life. I can see that He is letting you tell your story as a testimony to His greatness to a wide audience. What WOULD we do without Jesus in our lives?

Now I am serving my 8 week externship in a Northern Ca operating room, I can tell you that this would be the worst case scenario for anyone in this field. We are ALL dedicated to making the experience the BEST it can be for the PATIENT. We are there for one reason only - and the MOST IMPORTANT person in the O/R is - the PATIENT.

Laparoscopic surgery is very common these days. The camera always goes in after the first trocar, and they would have seen the blood (it should be a bloodless surgery, with gas inflating the abdomen for visualization). The fact that they put in a second and third trocar with no camera is just WRONG. The anesthesiologist should have known there was something wrong immediately!

I've contacted all three of my federal elected officials regarding your situation. I updated your letter to bring it current.

My son is a B-One navigator at Dyess AFB in Abilene, and I appreciate all of the men and women of our great country who dedicate their lives to protect us and the world today.

I wish both of you and your family the best going forward. God has bigger and better plans for your lives! ! ! Hs IS our comfort and strength in good times and bad.

Linda C.

Hey Colton,

It's been a while since I last commented here, but I still check up on the blog regularly. Not sure if you remember me, but we went to tech school together (I had a gimpy arm in a sling a bunch of the time). :) It sounds like you're making great improvement, and I want you to know that you really are an inspiration. Sometimes when things like this happen to people, they simply give up, and you've done everything but give up. I said from the beginning that you were too driven to do anything but excel after this!

Anyway, I would love to get one of those decals once those get sorted out. Darn stubborn companies! :) Be well, Colton!
