Hello everyone,

I want to thank you all for the support you have given me. Well let’s start off with three weeks ago I got the chance to meet the Chief of Staff of the Air Force. He is a very kind man, Jessica and I enjoyed meeting him. That was really exciting for me. Then someone that has taken care of me since my incident, a great leader, retired.  Then, the next week I went to Phoenix, Arizona for a Paralympics event.  I got a chance to throw the Shot-put, Javelin, and Discus.  While there I also got classified to see what class I will compete in as a Paralympian. It was a great camp to learn how to throw.  I competed in an event in San Antonio once I got back from Phoenix and did well. The last two weeks I have been rehabbing. I plan on having a small procedure on Friday to place a back stimulator. It goes onto my spine and interrupts the signals from my legs to my brain and replaces the pain signals with a slight massaging feeling. I am hopeful that this will end a lot of my nerve pain in my limbs and make it more comfortable for me to walk in my prosthetics. We are still working with the housing on post to get it situated for my needs, it’s been a long process but we have been not only successful for ourselves but for our neighbors with disabilities as well. Thank you to everyone for all the support!

Thanks,

Colton

Glad to hear that things are going well. Your attitude in the face of such diversity is inspiring! You are still affecting my life and many others, even though the comments have slowed down.

Keep up the great work!!

I was totally unaware of any of this, and just out of curiosity read a bumper sticker in my hometown of Greenville, Texas: "Google Colton Read". I thought I'd check it out. I am so very sorry for the horrible mistakes made in your treatments, and the totally unfair proceedings in your case (re: law suit, insurance coverage, etc.) You are in my thoughts and prayers, and will most certainly be the subject of many discussions among my peers and strongly written letters to my congressmen. Please keep up the good work toward rehabilitation and keeping your blog current. I will be checking it daily for updates. Best of luck - you are certainly an inspiration.

We are pleased to hear of your continued progress and pray that your latest procedure on Friday was a complete success. Will that simulator have to be "recharged" from time to time and does it just work forever? We continue to keep you, Jessica, your family and care givers in our prayers.

Colton- I am so sorry I have not been in touch. I went to the Bonham 2010 Graduation and met up with a few friends from high school when someone mentioned your name. I looked up Jessica on facebook and then came across your website. If either of you need any help, please let me know. I will do my best to stay in touch. I hope your procedure went well and I hope to hear from you and Jessica soon. I don't think you could have picked a better girl to spend your life with. She is so sweet and so beautiful! Love you both!

Mr. Read and Famil,

Today i learned of the sorrow that was tossed your way. I would first like to say that i am ever grateful for the service that you have done to make sure that not only me, but this land we call Old Glory safe. My name is Jakob and i am 23 years of age, I ride with a white horse ministry team known as The Glory Riders. Our mission is to bring light to the rodeo arena and up lift God and Country, when i heard of what road was laid ahead of you it not only touched my life but showed me that no matter what life may throw at us we are overcomers. Just know that your lifes story is still impacting to this day. Thank you for showing great strength and courage, for our country. Know that their are people out here in the great state of Texas still praying not only for you and your family, but that our goverment will see the true light and come back to its first love.

V/r,

Jakob
