Im back. 03/30/2010

Hey everyone! Well I had a great ski trip with another great ski instructor Bill Bowness he is a Paralympian.  I set a goal to ski a black while I was up there and I did. That is a more difficult hill the difficulty goes Green, Blue then Black and up from there.  I really enjoy skiing it is defiantly one the most fun things I have done.  I would love to ski everyday if I could. But skiing was not the only thing we did there. I also played sled hockey and we went snowmobiling. Sled hockey was a lot of fun too. The best thing about sled hockey in my opinion is hitting other people. There were not a lot of people there so it was the Marines vs. everyone else. The Marines won but I got a couple of good hits in. The same day we went snowmobiling to the top of the mountain to eat lunch. I started off riding one by myself then I realized without legs I had no way to keep myself on.   So every time we hit a bump I went air borne and had to hold on to the handlebars for dear life.  So about a quarter of the way through I decided to go ahead and ride with the instructor that was a lot of fun.

I appreciate the questions that you all have asked. The first thing was, when I sign off I say V/r that means very respectfully.  Now, about my future I was given a letter from the Secretary of the Air Force, Chief of staff of the Air Force and the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force that if I want to stay in the Air Force they will work with me or they will help me get a government job if I decide to medically retire. I have been also offered some really great jobs by people that have heard my story.

Colton and Jessica,

Good to hear of the progress being made and the great ski trip. Although being physically active is sure to be a challenge, it is no doubt very important for your long term health.

We are pleased that the Air Force has offered to do the right thing for you career wise. There are no doubt many things you must take into consideration and one of them will be the probable ongoing cost of medical needs. As an outsider looking in, it seems that the Air Force is taking care of those needs and will probably take care of them in the future.

Will you need time off now and then to address these medical needs? If so, it seems likely that the Air Force would be “understanding” about that matter, however a private employer may not have the luxury of granting paid time off.
We hope you are keeping copies of all your records in a secure place. As time goes by, memories fade Generals and Secretary S of the Air Force move on and verbal agreements sometimes lose their original intent.
We hope you continue to improve and God will grant you the wisdom to make the right decisions. We wish you a Happy Easter and that peace that Easter brings with it.

Colton,

What's going on man! It's been a long time I know but I googled your name and found this website. What a great way to keep in touch.

I see you got promoted to SrA, received an ACM and went skiing just to name a few... It's all well-deserved as you know I've always felt you had a great attitude in the Air Force and it's an honor serving with someone like you! Remember when I told you that before the Christmas party a few years back?

In case you didn't know we're living in Las Vegas now after our PCS to Creech AFB in Dec 09. It's a lot of fun over here and they have such a great mission.

Anyway, just wanted to drop you a line aand let you know there's many people praying and thinking about you. Can you send me your address? I have something to send you.

Godspeed my friend,

Stu

Jessica and Colton - it inspirational to hear the progress you have made in such a short period of time. You both have made such progress in just about 8 months of time. I hope you both know how much Colton's accident and your attitudes of "can do" have changed my perspective on everything. Nothing is unattainable or unreachable with the correct attitude and the correct support. We love you both very much. Looking forward to the next Rook game!

I saved the news story video about you last year. I came across it today and immediately decided to Google your name. I am so happy to read your recent posts and hear things are better. You are what true HERO's are all about, you are my hero. Wolfie

Howdy Colton,

It is awesome that the Air Force is considering keeping you on active duty. Whatever your choice, I know you will do well. You are an inspiration to many of us.

Keep up the fight!
