Hello all,

This is Jessica and I'm making a quick update for Colton before the holidays. Today was Coltons promotion ceremony to Senior Airman! We are very excited and were very honored by all the people that attended! Not only was Colton promoted today, but was also given an achievement medal for his work on images that resulted in saving 8 American citizens. The medal was presented by Col. Woliver who came down from Beale AFB.  I am so proud of Colton and all the work he has done.

We are planning on going home to the Dallas area for the holidays and are planning attending the Cowboys game on Jan. 3! Colton will also experience a new first this holiday. He is going hunting with his grandfather and is very excited. Hunting is another hobby Colton enjoyed doing before his injury. 

We hope that all of you have a great holiday and please keep all of those who are not with their families, but fighting for our country, in your hearts this holiday as well. We will update again in the new year!

Merry Christmas to you both. We are so very proud of both of you! You have had to overcome so much this year and still have such wonderful things to look forward to. Colton - you know how much I love the movie, "It's a Wonderful Life" - this year it has special meaning for me. I think about how close we came to losing you and the profound affect it would have had if none of us would have never had you in our lives. What a tragedy that would have been.

We love you, are so proud of your promotion, the advances you have made in a short period of time, and you in general. What ever you do, you are the finest of the finest in my book!

Merry Christmas Colton & Jessica, congratulations on your award, that is so cool. So obviously you are already a better volleyball player and skiier than me. Have so much fun at the Cowboys game - the stadium is just so amazing, you will LOVE it! Plus it could end up being a big playoff implications game - you are going to have such a good time. Congratulations on the promotion! And on the medal. Both are really terrific.

What you have done so far is truly amazing. I keep you and Jessica in my prayers and hope that the negative stuff (like the investigation review) doesn't get you down.

I hope that you will persevere in your progress. Glad you enjoyed the skiing. I can't believe that I grew up in Colorado and never went skiing. But I don't like being cold, so guess I don't miss it.

We hope that all went well with your Christmas and New Years holidays. That sometimes is a very challenging time of year and it also seems common that the days and weeks following that time people sometimes just feel down. We hope that this does not happen with you two because after all you have been through you really do need each other and have so many good things ahead of you. While it is true that this whole thing should never have happened and probably many things could have been done differently, it is also true that many things have gone right. You are getting some of the finest care available to anyone in the world and there is a plan for your continued recovery and assimilation back into regular Air Force duty. May God continue to bless you both and give you the strength and courage to keep on fighting. Do not give up - We continue to keep you guys in our prayers.
