Happy Birthday Colton. Glad to hear your spirits are up and you are with people who love you. Right now concentrate on getting well. Don't let this setback keep you from your dream of serving. It is not common place but there have been members of the military that have served on active duty with amputations. Remember, once a member of the Air Force, always a member. I hope your steadfast dedication can be an example for others. The men and women of the 48th will be there if and when you need us.

Sincerely,
James

Jessica and Colton,

First, Happy Birthday Colton!! Second, Jessica it has been a long time since we have seen each other that you probably really don't even remember me from when we were younger.
I just wanted you both to know that I have been praying for y'all so much. My church family has been asking me every chance they get Colton's status. They have been praying daily for you both as well.
James 1:2-4 says" Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." This is a huge trial that y'all are going through but the Lord is there. He is sovereign. Rely on him for strength. He is the ultimate provider.
I am so glad that you will be in San Antonio soon closer to home and that Colton is moving in positive steps. Again I am praying for yall and if there is anything I can do please let me know.

Airman Colton Read et al,

Your story touched me. I hope you are able to fulfill your wishes to continue in the Air Force. You showed strong character by wanting to continue to serve your country. I will pray for you and your family for your recovery and your wish to continue service.

You will not be forgotten. I will make sure to write my Congressmen/women on your behalf to help your situation and lessen the chance of a recurrence. It truly is a shame that our system is one that is reactive v. proactive.

I am a prior veteran of the USAF with a service connected disability.

May the grace of God be with you,

Colton,

First off HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

You dont know me, but I have talked to your mom on another website. Since I found out about your situation, I have been doing all I can to get the word out and help. My husband is a SSgt in the Air Force, and we will soon be at Lackland (well about 8 months from now). I forwarded your story to my mother-in-law whose husband is retired Air Force. She sent a lot of information to your mom and has vowed, that if you were transferred to San Antonio that she wanted to meet you. So whenever you are up to it I will let her know.
I pray that your recovery continues as great as it has! You and your family are always in my thoughts and prayers.

I pray that God will make everything alright, just trust in him and have faith. I am a SSgt in the Air Force. When I heard your story I had to breakdown and give God thanks right in that moment. I had brain surgery almost 11 months ago and everything went well and all I can say is I'm blessed. God will proctect you I know it is sad but just give all your cares to him. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
God bless and be strong.

young warrior God is really not ready for you yet. you have been so strong and full of courage that really makes you a very awesome person. I learned in life that for everything we go through there is a lesson to be learned. I put you in Gods healing hands for he's the only one that can make miracles happen. I almost lost my life on Feb the 8th of this year because I got involved with the wrong person I know that this does'nt compare to what you are going through, but my point is that God does'nt give us more than we cant handle or overcome. I will keep You and your wife and family in my prayers every day that God heals you inside out and give your wife and family the strenght and patience to give you the encouragement to keep that beautiful smile on your face. Goodluck and happy birthday! always in my thoughts and prayers Norica M Espinoza.

Happy belated birthday!
Remember me? This is Momma Jan, I have been wanting to leave you a message but for some reason until today the words just were not coming to me to express what I wanted to say. I have been following the events of your life over the past few weeks. Having met you several years ago and knowing your mom, I knew in my heart if anyone could make it through this tragic situation it would be you. As a nurse and understanding the severity of what happened medically, it is plain to see determination, the will to live and prayer can beat all odds. I know you are faced with many challenges in the future. I also know that you can rise above it all. It is just the person you are, you take the good with the bad and make the best out of the situation. Your wife is a strong loving young woman who I feel will be by your side loving you and working with you every step of the way. Your mother, family and friends will be right there behind you to help catch you when you become weary and uncertain. I know in my heart of hearts this is one tragic life story that will come to a close with a happy ending. The old saying that everything happens for a reason comes to mind, I know without a doubt, you will find that reason and redefine the path of your life. Colton, if you never listened to anything I have ever said, I want you to pay attention to this. You are a wonderful dynamic young man, with your inner spirit, the love and support of family and friends, you can do anything you set your mind to do! My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Our hearts go out to you and your family and we pray that our government will provide for you to the maximum extent that duty and integrity demand. I served proudly in SAC during the Cold War and I can't believe that the U.S. Air Force will not go all the way with you. There should not even be a discussion of a legal limit on what is provided. You and your family deserve far more than any victim of 9-11 received so let there be special legislation if necessary to see that money is not a limiting factor in any service that you need. Our sincere thanks to you for your service and earnest prayers for your future.

Jessica & Colton - I am just now learning of your situation and am deeply moved. It looks like you've got a lot of great support and with my help, I hope that support grows.

I have a small blog that centers around the Civil Air Patrol community and I just posted today about your plight, my readership may not be what AFblues.com is, but every little bit counts!

You're in my family's thoughts and prayers guys!

All The Best,

Mark
