SAN ANTONIO AND LACKLAND AIR FORCE BASE WELCOMES COLTON READ

Colton arrived in San Antonio Thursday, Aug. 6, and was admitted to the ICU at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base.  Today, Saturday Aug. 8, Colton was moved out of ICU and became a patient resident at Wilford Hall.

This morning, Colton started a rigorous physical therapy program, began using a wheel chair and wheeled himself around the floor corridors. As he is recovering well, no additional surgeries planned at this time.

We sincerely appreciate all the support from both the Beale Air Force Base and the Lackland Air Force Base families. Their time and tireless help have made the journey easier, more memorable and are daily encouragements to Colton, Jessica and the families. All of us are truly grateful.

We also appreciate the cards, letters and contributions from the many people around the world. Your on-going support and caring concern are awesome encouragements to Colton, Jessica and the families.

Please continue to pray for the Lord's peace and healing.

Welcome home to Texas, Colton. Our prayers and thoughts are with you, Jessica, and all of your family.

I know you don't remember me, but we go to St. Andrews UMC in Arlington. You might remember our son, though, as he used to be the drummer in the praise band there before he joined the Marines four years ago.

May you gain strength each day, and find comfort and peace in your faith. I know that God has plans for you, plans for your good. May he bless you as you recover.

Hey, I'm SO glad to hear that everything is going better! I knew you could pull through, buddy. You have a lot of supporters out there, Read. =)

I hope you're feeling better all around. I know that there's much more healing to go, but when you feel down there are plenty to help pull you back up. I can't wait to hear you're improving again!

I have friend who informed me of your situation. I will begin to pray every day about what your future holds. It appears that the Air Force may be stepping up to the plate. This lets you know your not alone.
I believe soldiers have a madallion which reads:
Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God [is] with thee whithersoever thou goest.
One must believe this, which is where I step in. I Do.
These words may not seems as real or comforting now but I believe and some how God always shows us what is His Best.
Bless you in your challenage of life.

Cpl.Gary L.Moore.

Hey Jess and Colton,

I am so happy that you seem to have made it back home! I just want you to know that I love you guys tons and I miss you. Funny thing I actually found out that you were leaving through the paper!
Jess, I am so happy to have met you and look forward to being your friend until we just get sick of each other! I want you to know that I have contacted only three people. Since I have such an unpopulated state it was only three. I wrote my two senators and my governor. I am behind you guys at whatever cost it takes.
Just get in touch with me when things get settled and let me know how things are. Jess, I know you are staying strong and positive and keep it that way. Tell Colton, that I'm going to miss beating him up.JK I love you guys. I will talk to you soon.

Jessica & Colton - I am just now learning of your situation and am deeply moved. It looks like you've got a lot of great support and with my help, I hope that support grows.

I have a small blog that centers around the Civil Air Patrol community and I just posted today about your plight, my readership may not be what AFblues.com is, but every little bit counts!

You're in my family's thoughts and prayers guys!

All The Best,

I wrote a couple weeks ago and just want you to know that I pray for you every time you come to mind, which is several times every day. I will never forget to pray for healing and strength for you: mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual.

I am a stranger to you but you are a part of my life forever! Just keep in mind: Life is not about this life. This life is boot camp/basic training (not sure what AF calls it) for eternity. What you are going through will be to your eternal glory---and His! Stay strong! (I know you will.)

I'm so proud of Colton--what an airman!! And he has such support from Jessica, it's awesome! I'm the one you spoke to here at Lackland that had a similar surgical complication. Please send me an email where you are staying and I'll come by with some treats or something. Any special cravings? That chow hall food has to be getting old. :) I would be happy to bring you whatever you need, or take you out for a few hours whlie Colton is in therapy so you can get a nice break from stress. Please send me an email when you can. Take care of yourselves! You are in our prayers. Heather & Dwayne
